Programs

Our overall preschool curriculum is guided by the Connecticut State Department of Education’s Preschool Curriculum Framework and Benchmarks.   The goal of all of our programs is to prepare each child for the next step in their education. The 3’s programs are preparatory for pre-K and our 4’s programs are preparatory for kindergarten.

We focus on early language and literacy development, pre-writing, math and science skills.  Art Activities are process driven and are designed to enhance and encourage each child’s creative expressive development. The children are given opportunities each day to develop fine motor skills through cutting, beading, painting and participating in sensory rich experiences in our sensory tables.  Our outdoor playground and large indoor play spaces are designed to promote all aspects of good physical and large motor development.

Our staff is dedicated to a strong curriculum and well planned purposeful activities with a high level of attention placed on intentional teaching.  This allows us to meet each child’s needs and promote individual cognitive, social, emotional, creative and physical development.  Our philosophy is that children learn best by doing!  Our goal is to ignite their curiosity and eagerness to learn something new each day.

In addition to their regular classroom activities, each class participates weekly in a Music and Creative Movement class with Beth Schwartz, our music and dance teacher.  She has been with us for over 5 years and is a great asset to our program.

Field trips form an integral part of our 4’s program as we choose seasonal trips that bring the classroom learning to a deeper level and enhance the curriculum.

Our 3’s program features monthly enrichment events that we bring to the classroom to enhance their learning experience.

Lunch Brunch Program
Our Lunch Bunch Program is offered 5 days a week from 12:00 until 1:55.  The children are welcomed into the Lunch Bunch classroom where they enjoy an afternoon of open center time play with their friends and our Lunch Bunch staff.  They engage in lively conversation with each other while they eat lunch, then it is off to the playground until pick up time.   It is a multi-aged group. Our four’s can begin in Sept.   Our three year olds generally are ready to join by late Nov. with confirmation of readiness for the longer day from the Three’s teachers.   Sign up for Lunch Bunch is flexible and is ongoing throughout the school year.

Mini Camp Program
To bridge the gap between when private schools and the public schools end their year we offer our summer Mini Camp Program.  It runs for 3 weeks after Memorial Day. Children can register for one, two or all three weeks depending upon your vacation schedule.  It provides a great opportunity for us to introduce our 3’s to the classroom and teacher that they will have when they return to school in the fall.  The classes are composed of mixed age groups which creates a wonderful balance for summertime fun. The Mini Camp theme changes each year and revolves around an enrichment program that includes visiting storytellers, performers, musicians, daily arts and crafts and plenty of outdoor playtime.  Mini Camp hours are 9:00 – 1:00.  The children picnic outdoors for lunch each afternoon at 12:00, and a daily snack is provided.
